Mouser and Molex Cheer KVSH Racing as IndyCar Team Heads to Long Beach
Mouser and Molex are teaming up to sponsor the No. 11 IndyCar in this weekend's race at the Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach, California.
April 14, 2016 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. will be rooting for KVSH Racing's No. 11 car as the team heads to California this weekend for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, a 1.968-mile, 12-turn circuit that encircles the Long Beach Convention Center. After a solid showing April 2 at the Phoenix Grand Prix, the No. 11 car with Sebastien Bourdais at the wheel is poised for a strong performance in California. Mouser is pleased to once again be a major sponsor of the KVSH No. 11 car in this year's Verizon IndyCar Series in cooperation with valued supplier Molex.
Bourdais earned two strong wins last season and finished 10th overall among 40 IndyCar drivers. At the 2016 season opener in St. Petersburg, Fla., Bourdais was knocked out in the 87th lap, but he rebounded at the next race in Phoenix, finishing a solid 8th in a field of 22 cars.
"It was a less than perfect race from my end. I made too many mistakes and I feel bad for the guys because they really deserved a better finish than eighth," Bourdais said. "It is not the best we could have done, but the guys did a solid job in the pits and we are becoming a team again."
The 2016 season marks the 21st season of the IndyCar Series and includes the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, set for May 29. The Mouser- and Molex-sponsored car won the Indianapolis 500 in 2013, and Bourdais' strong finish last year has increased hopes for an exciting racing season.
"We are pumped about this upcoming race," said Todd McAtee, Mouser Electronics' Vice President, Americas. "The precision and performance of the new technologies in high-speed racing continue to amaze us season after season. The IndyCar race provides the perfect vehicle to build top-of-mind awareness for Mouser's performance-driving business model and our manufacturer partner, Molex."
"This is already shaping up to be an exciting season, and we're thrilled to see what the team can accomplish. At Molex, we understand the value of teamwork, and by sponsoring the Number 11 car with Mouser, we can further demonstrate our commitment to developing products that help advance the automotive industry," said Fred Bell, Vice President, Global Distribution, Molex.
After Long Beach, the team travels to the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, set for April 24, followed by the Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 14, and the legendary Indianapolis 500 on May 29. Ten more races will follow, ending with the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma (Calif.) on September 18.
