ams OSRAM AS7160 Optical Force Sensing Analog Front End (AFE) Module is a low noise and high dynamic range proximity detection AFE optimized for optical force sensing for consumer market applications. This device's data acquisition system supports up to eight LEDs and eight photodiode inputs and includes two high-resolution optical readout channels. The AS7160 IC enables pressure-sensitive buttons and controls behind any surface, delivering robust force detection where capacitive touch and mechanical switches have limitations. This device operates over the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The AS7160 AFE is available in a 42-ball Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP) with dimensions 2.82mm x 2.55mm. This device is ideal for mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, industrial automation, home and building automation, medical devices, digital diagnostic devices, appliances and power tools, and robotics.
